Secure the Future: Learn Cybersecurity with iFundi

SANDTON, GAUTENG – July 14, 2025 – As cyber threats continue to escalate globally, South Africa faces an urgent need for skilled cybersecurity professionals. Recognizing this, career education leader iFundi hosted an interactive Cybersecurity Information Session to highlight its Cybersecurity Analyst Qualification, which is offered fully online with a new intake beginning in September.

The session brought together iFundi leadership, subject matter experts, and past learners to unpack the role of cybersecurity in today’s workplace, the structure of the training, and the growing career opportunities in the field.

In his opening remarks, Stefan Lauber, co-founder and CEO of iFundi, emphasized the importance of digital skills in an era defined by rapid technological disruption. Referencing data that suggests up to 30% of current jobs may soon be obsolete, Lauber made the case for proactive skills development.

“AI is not going to take your job, but the person who knows how to use AI will,” Lauber said.

Lauber highlighted iFundi’s shift to online delivery, noting the convenience and cost savings for learners, especially working adults. With over 20,000 graduates and more than two decades of experience, iFundi has strategically focused on future-proof skills in IT, Management, and Customer interaction.

Cybersecurity expert Shepherd Govere, a specialist with over 15 years of industry experience, delivered a practical breakdown of the field. He explained that cybersecurity analysts are responsible for protecting an organisation’s digital assets, ranging from network infrastructure to data systems, from cyberattacks, malware, and data breaches.

“You’re the digital defender of your organisation,” Govere explained. “From firewalls to forensic analysis, cybersecurity touches every part of a business today.”

Refiloe Legoabe, a Telkom employee with 18 years of experience, shared how the course opened new doors. “I used to think IT was only for men,” she said. “But now I’m preparing for my final exam in cybersecurity. It’s intense, but it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made.”

Kiran Jagganath, an IT technician at BCX, encouraged others to step into the unknown.’ If you’re unsure, leap. Cybersecurity isn’t just about numbers, it’s about critical thinking, attention to detail, and problem solving.’

Both learners praised the hands-on labs, team collaboration, and support from instructors like Govere as instrumental to their progress.

Joel Perry, iFundi’s Academic Director, outlined how the program aligns closely with workplace demands. The curriculum is built around practical, project-based learning delivered online, with support from industry-active facilitators.

Perry also introduced iFundi’s innovative AI-powered tools, which include:

    • A Career Advisor to help map learning journeys
    • A Corporate Skills Plan Generator for HR teams

These tools, integrated into iFundi’s learning management system, are designed to provide round-the-clock support and enhance the learner experience.

“We believe in education that pays, and by that, we mean learning that leads to real employment and career growth,” Perry said.

Isabel Mamashela, Student Advisor at iFundi, explained the easy registration process: complete an online form, pay a registration fee, receive access to orientation, timetable, and learning platform within 24 hours.

She also noted that companies often sponsor employee studies through skills development funding, and that iFundi offers discounted tuition rates for employer-funded learners.
